Get up early and join me for an intertidal foraging expedition class that will blow your mind! These classes have been chosen at the lowest of low tides so you will be sure to see a vast intertidal smorgasbord of shellfish, (clams, limpets, rock crabs, goose barnacles, mussels) fish (monkeyface eels, grass rock fish, cabezon) and sea weeds (bull kelp, rock weed, nori, sea lettuce) and various other creatures! This class is a mix of "how-to" info, regulations, sustainability, ecology, and more! Though you won't be able to forage for yourself on this tour, I can give away anything that I myself catch and gather--and potentially that could be quite a lot of stuff!
{The annual mussel quarantine is in effect from May 1st to Oct. 31st.}
{This tour requires some vigorous tide-pooling and possibly a little climbing on slippery rocks. Wear waders or at the very least rubber boots. Some folks wear shorts and wading shoes (crocs or sandals) but be forewarned, the water is very cold}.
To be clear, if you want to harvest stuff yourself, you'll have to wait till the tour is over. At which point you're free to put all the stuff you've learned to good use!
